in the archives' local databases. The most suitable approach is the OAI-PMH mechanism for harvesting XML-formatted
metadata from repositories.
OAI-PMH implementation and tools guidelines
Issued in 2008 as part of the TELplus project this 21-pages document provides short guidelines to help content
providers in implementing OAI-PMH. It explains the main concepts and functionality of the protocol, as well as
the common scenarios found in libraries for OAI-PMH implementation. The presented best practise guidelines and
tool recommendations are worth considering for the EFG context. Furthermore, this document can be used by the EFG
archives' technical staff in order to get a short and concise introduction to OAI-PMH.
